#LocalGovt16: EOJ reports 10% voter turnout for morning session
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) is reporting a ten per cent voter turnout between the hours of 7:00 am and 11:00 am for the local government elections.
According to a news release from the EOJ, a total of 183,743 ballots were cast across all 7,050 polling stations within that time.
Meanwhile, 782 electors voted for the mayor of the Municipality of Portmore during the period. This accounts for 8.12 per cent of the electors eligible to vote in that election.
Voting continues slowly across the island. Polls close at 5:00 pm today.
