#LocalGovt16: JLP candidate shuns media, says there’s work to be done
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — Jamaica Labour Party candidate for the Church Pen Division in the St Catherine South Western constituency, Mark O’Connor, cast his vote at the Old Harbour High School a short while ago.
O’Connor, who stopped briefly to speak to his supporters, declined OBSERVER ONLINE’s request for a photo or to comment on the elections.
He advised the OBSERVER ONLINE team “to come back after the election” as he had work to do in his division.
O’Connor is going up against the People’s National Party’s Andrew Robinson.
At the Old Harbour campus of the Portmore Community College, people could be seen steadily streaming into the venue to cast their ballots.
According to the Electoral Office of Jamaica representative at the location, who declined to provide his name, the numbers so far were fewer than expected as “it was still well below 200” up to 10:00 am.
