Our Corporate Responsibility
“Through corporate responsibility, we seek to go beyond ‘doing the right thing’ to being a catalyst for positive change in society.”
Community investment
Youth education
PwC Jamaica’s investment activities are guided by our focus on creating a positive impact to youth education and community development. Our ongoing outreach projects include our continued and long standing support of the St. Michael’s Primary and Infant School located in inner city Kingston. Over the years our staff and partners have donated several items including equipment to the school to enhance delivery of a sound education to the students, and have volunteered many hours to enhance the facilities including periodic painting. A highlight of each year is delivering individual gifts during the Christmas season to the children of St. Michaels who treat us to performances of singing, poems and playing instruments. We are now embarking on a breakfast program for the school and continue to strongly support several local charities.
Supporting future leaders through our Annual Scholarship Programme
Our annual tertiary scholarship programme began in 1995 as the firm was about to celebrate its 90th anniversary. The scholarship awards have continued and forms a staple part of the firm’s ongoing corporate social responsibility activities geared at supporting tertiary education in Jamaica.
Since its inception, the firm has awarded over 20 scholarships. Applicants must be final year students pursuing a first degree in accounting and maintaining a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.5. The final awardees are chosen based upon the applicant’s academic record, extra-curricular involvement, need for financial assistance and performance during the scholarship interview. Scholarships amount is currently $500,000 per annum.
