Portsmouth lift netball title for 3rd straight year
Defending champions Portsmouth secured their third-straight hold on the INSPORTS Portmore Primary School Netball crown after beating Naggo Head in the final played at Waterford Primary last week.
The 2014, 2015 and now 2016 champions became the first team to accomplish the feat, winning 18-9 for a deserved win.
After a slow start, which saw them scoring one goal in the first quarter, Portsmouth returned to the court a transformed team and were three goals up at half-time.
Their dominance continued as they opened up an eight-point lead at the end of the third quarter.
But it was Portsmouth’s defence — led by their MVP, goalkeeper Kimeka Smith — that stood out, restricting Naggo Head’s attack to only four goals for the entire second half.
In the play-off for third, hosts Waterford failed to make home support count as they were beaten 12-6 by Ascot.
