Tony Prophit to re-release single
Jamaican-born, Canada-based reggae singer Tony Prophit will be re-releasing his single New Jeruselem on December 23.
According to the singer, he saw the need to re-release the three-year-old single because of its powerful message.
“It is a song with a strong, powerful message and aims at opening the eyes of the people unto righteousness. We didn’t place enough promotion on it when it was first released, so my team and I are going full force with it this time,” he said.
New Jeruselem was co-produced by Tony Prophit and his brother, Wayne Dohman.
Prophit (given name Anthony Mellish) spent his earlier years between St James and Hanover. He developed an interest in music while attending Harrison Memorial High School in Montego Bay.
“I was always singing so my family and friends encouraged me to embark on a career in music. During the 1990s, I migrated to Toronto, Canada, where I continued on a musical path. Doing music outside of Jamaica isn’t easy, but nevertheless I am determined to pull through,” he said.
Among his releases are No Lies, The Blind, Your Choice and I Am A Plant, which are all from his recent debut album Sweet Nazarene Prophecy.
