LESS than a year ago Ihenyen Ejodame was ecstatic as he was finally realising his dream of becoming an established writer. At that time, he also hoped that his books would be transitioned into an animation version. That was his dream.

Fast forward to today, Ejodame’s work has become even more prominent as the young writer, who resides in St Ann, is now into animation. What was a dream in January 2016 is a reality in December 2016.

Ejodame, who works as the evening manager at Jewel Runaway Bay Beach Resort, launched the Bintah book series published by Carlong Publishers earlier this year.

Despite this, Ejodame says he is not satisfied that he has accomplished his childhood dream of becoming an established writer. As such, he is pushing himself and has now produced a series of short animation features which he hopes will soon be aired on local television stations.

Ejodame said he has not sought to replicate the books in the animations, but employed other ways to help children learn.

“It is educational with adventure. It takes in different subject areas. It is education mixed with entertainment, so kids will not get bored. I find that with music children learn a lot better. The concept is to get Bintah to educate children in other ways,” he told the Jamaica Observer North and East.

While the Bintah book series focuses primarily on children at the early childhood stage, Ejodame said the Bintah animated series can be beneficial to even teenagers because of the content being provided.

“Some adults do not know the planets. It will help a child who would not normally sit down to do anything with maths,” Ejodame said.

He believes that the format the content will provide to children will allow many to better remember things taught at school.

Added to this, he said: “It’s very affordable compared to most books on the market.”

He said more books will be launched in 2017.
