ONLINE POLL RESULTS: Peter Phillips should succeed Portia, Lisa next in line
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Thirty-two per cent of the 7,735 respondents to a recent OBSERVER ONLINE poll said Peter Phillips should succeed Portia Simpson Miller as People’s National Party (PNP) president.
Lisa Hanna, who in September lost her vice-presidential bid, racked up the second highest number of votes with 29 per cent of the respondents suggesting that she be named as the next PNP president.
Hanna has not signalled whether she is willing to throw her hat into the ring to vie for leadership of the party.
However, Peter Bunting, who was expected to go head-to-head with Phillips, last week announced that he will withdraw, setting aside his ego for the sake of the party. In the OBSERVER ONLINE poll, Bunting trailed Hanna in the results, obtaining 27 per cent of the votes.
Wykeham McNeill, the other possible candidate listed, received 11 per cent of the votes. McNeill was successful in his vice presidential bid in September.
