Faulkland FC, Montego Bay Boys Club clash in Western Confed league today
St James clubs Faulkland FC and Montego Bay Boys Club (MBBC) will clash in a Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) Western Confederation Charlie’s JB Rum Super League Zone 2 game at Jarrett Park this afternoon set to start at 3:00pm.
Second-placed MBBC, who have drawn on their previous two outings, could take over the lead with a win, while Faulkland FC, winners of their last two games, would move into second if they were to win the first ever match-up between the clubs at this level.
The other five firstround games will be played later this weekend. On Saturday, Zone 1 leaders Reggae Youths will travel to the Orchard field to face promoted Hopewell FC.
The following day defending champions Granville United will host first-timers Three Miles River at Granville; Wadadah FC, still searching for their first point this season, host Petersfield FC at Jarrett Park; Zone 2 leaders Sandals South Coast will travel to face Holland United at Elleston Wakeland Centre; while Beaches Negril and Clark’s Town will meet at Long Bay Beach Park. All games are set to start at 3:00 pm.
Today, Faulkland FC will seek to shrug off their loss to Wadadah FC in the St James FA knockout competition as they seek a third-straight win and close the gap on the leaders.
After losing their first game 0-1 to Sandals South Coast, Faulkland FC have bounced back with two wins and scored 10 goals in the process.
They will take on a MBBC team that have drawn their last two games after winning their first two, but have scored only four goals in four games played.
In the only previous meeting during a St James FA knockout game last season, Faulkland FC came from two goals down to beat MBBC 4-2, but will be without prolific striker Jourdaine Fletcher who transferred to Premier League club Montego Bay United last week.
Deshane Beckford, who scored three goals for Faulkland FC, has also left for MBU, and the scoring responsibilities will fall to Neil Shaw, Theo Shaw and Dane Franklyn.
Despite being unbeaten, MBBC are struggling to find goals, and so far, four different players have scored one each. However, Roshane Reid and Leroy Christie are proven scorers and could make the difference.
On Saturday Reggae Youths will be gunning for their fourth-successive win when they take on last-placed Hopewell United at Orchard.
O’Carey Spence, the competition’s top scorer with five goals, and Oshane Thompson who has three, have accounted for all of Reggae Youths’ goals this season. Both players are expected to lead the attack against a Hopewell team yet to earn a victory and are on two points.
On Sunday defending champions Granville United and last season’s beaten finalists Sandals South Coast will both be hoping to return to winning ways after drawing the most recent games.
Granville United will host Three Miles River in a Zone 1 game, while Sandals South Coast are away to Holland United at Elleston Wakeland Centre in Falmouth.
