Deejay Benzly Hype’s mom’s funeral today
THE funeral of Beatrice Morris – mother of dancehall deejay Benzly Hype – is scheduled for Kingston Open Bible Church on Washington Boulevard in St Andrew, this morning.
The service is slated for an 11:00 am start.
Morris, 69, passed away on December 21 from complications due to cancer.
Benzly Hype is son of singer Ainsley Morris.
“This is very hard for me. I am still in a daze. Still trying to accept this. It is a very hard pill to swallow.
Mi and Mi Kru was really based around her life. She was the sweetest soul,” Benzly Hype told the Jamaica Observer.
Mi and Mi Kru was a television drama which started in 2009. It ran for a couple seasons and is built around Benzly Hype and members (all cousins) of dancehall group Innocent Crew. Directed by Kurt Wright and Robin Chin, it also starred Audrey Reid, Professor Nuts, and Vas Blackwood.
In addition to her widower Ainsley and Hype (Hemsley), Morris is survived by two sons (Fabian and Assani) and two adopted daughters (Vanassa and Nastassia Metzger).
Interment will follow at Meadowrest Memorial Gardens in St Catherine.
