Gov’t, CDA to address issues affecting street children
KINGSTON, Jamaica — State Minister in the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information, Floyd Green has disclosed that representatives from the ministry are currently working with the Child Development Agency (CDA) to develop a concept paper, which seeks to address, on a phased basis, issues impacting children working and living on the streets.
He disclosed that discussions are ongoing between the CDA, Children’s Affairs and Policy Division and the Labour and Social Security (Child Labour Unit) in the ministry.
The network of partners is to be expanded to include the wider Ministry of Education, Youth and Information, Ministry of Health, Ministry of National Security, and by extension the Jamaica Constabulary Force, the Possibilities Programme and the Ministry of Justice, Green said.
The state minister was giving an update on the undertakings of the ministry since the Government assumed office on March 7 last year.
