Shine-Out, Packers make winning start in KSACA T20
SHINE-Out Youth Club and Packers Club both won their opening matches in the 2017 Kingston and St Andrew Cricket Association (KSACA) City T20 League at the Maxfield Park Sports Club last Sunday.
Shine-Out Youth defeated Seaview Gardens on the Duckworth-Lewis (D/L) method, or on a faster run rate.
Batting first, Seaview made 178 for five wickets off their allotted 20 overs with Osbourne White scoring 62 runs. Shine-Out replied with 139 for six wickets off 15 overs.
Seaview Gardens, after 15 overs, were 134, while Shine-Out were 139 off 15 overs when bad light brought a premature end to the match.
Packers beat Arnett Gardens Cricket Club by 15 runs. Packers made 115 all out of 19.4 overs – Romaine Narine made 37, Jameel Bryan 37; Kamoy Smallings took four for 27, Omar Williams two for eight runs.
Arnett Gardens replied with 100 for six wickets off 20 overs – Shamar Lindo 30, Kemar Morris 18, Smallings two for 13 and Albert Rose two for 21.
The winning team is expected to walk away with $30,000 and the championship trophy, second-place $20,000 and a trophy, third-place $10,000 and a trophy and the team finishing fourth goes home with a trophy.
The batsman scoring the most runs and the bowler taking the most wickets will each receive $5,000, while the most disciplined team and the best dressed team will both receive trophies.
The competition continues on Sunday with Whitehall vs Shine-Out Youth at 10:00 am and Greenwich Town vs Arnett Gardens at 2:00 pm at Maxfield Park Sports Club.
Six teams are participating in the T20 competition with the top four teams qualifying for the semi-finals at the end of the preliminary stage which is being placed in a round robin format.
The participating teams are Arnett Gardens Cricket Club, Packer’s Cricket Club, Whitehall Cricket Club, Seaview Gardens Cricket Club, Greenwich Cricket Club and Shine-Out Youth Cricket Club.
