Robert
The “first through the door”. Employee #1. The keeper of the flame. (All after the founders, of course).
Thanks to a longstanding relationship with the Chin family, Robert Taylor started the New Year, January 1997, as one of the very first Alliance Investment employees. But you wouldn’t know it just from his unassuming demeanor.
Though a man of few words in formal settings, Robert fondly remembers the early days at Alliance, where “multi-tasking” was the fashion before the term was even coined. “Back then, there just weren’t enough people for us to really specialize, so even though I was the courier, I did some handy work and a few times the bosses would be heading to one bank, while I was at another or handling some other task, that’s just how it was.”
He’s also able to turn on the gift of gab as required when dealing with customers. For many, particularly institutional and corporate customers, Robert is the daily face of Alliance Investment and has come to be known as a keen and dependable ambassador.
But, in this day and age, twenty years in the same organization is remarkable. What is it that has kept Robert Taylor under the Alliance banner all this time? “Well, from the beginning I have a good relationship with the management, and also with the different people that have made up the team over the years, so I really don’t see any reason to change.”
His only other known loyalties are to his beloved Reds of Liverpool Football Club, and Robert hardly misses a game. Outside of sports, he professes a love of good music, good company and good food, the latter of which he might also prepare – in the Jamaican style.
In typical fashion, Robert’s gaze is set on continuing in his role of Courier/Ambassador for Alliance well into the future. Though he does intend, at some stage to “take it easy”, that point is envisaged to come anytime soon. (AIM)
