Lifestyle for Lent
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent – a time many persons spend in prayer, penitence and meditation. Lent is also well-known as a time when preferred foods are refused, physical activities and other indulgences are sacrificed in order to dedicate extra time to helping others. This time between Ash Wednesday and Easter Sunday can be enjoyed in different ways and give us the opportunity to try new things in place of food and activities we may decide to sacrifice in observance.
In this feature we will be looking at various practices, food options and ideas of how to observer this time of year for everyone no matter your denomination. Lifestyle for Lent is more than a period of observance, it can be viewed as a time of self actualization, reflection, enlightenment and even giving back to those who are less fortunate. As humans we all have a common thread that unites us, as time continues to test us we can take this time to learn more about our neighbours and ourselves.
