Singjay Summer Roze pens Whatsapp
FLORIDA-BASED singjay Summer Roze is currently in the island promoting her latest single, Whatsapp.
“It’s a fun, party song. It’s about a girl who is being pursued by several men but stays true to the one she loves. For this track, I opened up a little bit more and showed some more versatility,” Summer Roze told the Jamaica Observer yesterday.
Released last week, Whatsapp is produced on the Black Hart imprint. It is available on all digital platforms.
Summer Roze said, so far, the feedback to the track is encouraging.
“It feels good. The feedback has been amazing. I played it for my team and some popular DJs in Miami and Jamaica, as well as my friend Seanizzle, and they all said it is a great song. The ladies especially are loving this song because it is relatable and a feel-good song. It’s only natural, of course, that you are going to want to dance and have a good time once you hear it,” she said.
An accompanying video is in the works.
“In addition to pushing Whatsapp, I’m currently doing some work with top-shelf producer Seanizzle,” she said.
Summer Roze (real name Rosemarie Grant) has a background in fashion marketing and design. She is the daughter of Jamaican boxer Uriah Grant who won the IBF Cruiserweight Championship belt in 1997. Two years later, he defeated Thomas “Hitman” Hearns in the second round.
Her other tracks include Brace Yuh Back and Drummer Boy.
