Prince Theo’s second coming
It’s been 13 years since Set The Captives Free, singer Prince Theo’s first and only album, was released but a hectic studio schedule is likely to result in a long-awaited follow-up.
The St Thomas-reared artiste has recently recorded a number of songs for long-time collaborators in New York and Europe. He told the Jamaica Observer that some of those songs may appear on his overdue second set.
“I see it fit to have another album now. I have a lot of singles an’ di people should hear Prince Theo,” he said.
Most of those singles, like True Lover, are produced by Reggae Vibes Productions, a Brooklyn, New York, company which also handled So Splendid, Prince Theo’s six-song EP which came out last year.
Some of his other new songs are co-produced by Trinity Productions out of Switzerland and French company, High Fly Music.
Prince Theo is confident he will have at least two albums out by the summer when he expects to tour Europe. His previous trip to the continent was in 2010 when he performed in France, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and Russia.
Forty-seven-year-old Prince Theo (real name Theodore Bailey) is from the town of Bath in St Thomas. He has been recording for over 20 years, cutting songs for top-flight producers including Lloyd “King Jammys” James and Morgan Heritage.
