Domino coaches’ programme launched
In a move seen as essential to improving the standard of play for this year’s tournament, the National Association of Domino Bodies (NADB) held its first training programme for coaches at Sports Development Foundation (SDF) on Phoenix Ave on Saturday.
The 2017 Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum/NADB Kingston and St Andrew Region competition is set to kick off next month.
Humbert Davis, first vice-president at NADB, said that the coaches’ training programme, under the theme ‘Unwind’, was done to get a free flow on the understanding of the game of domino so as to improve the sports in general.
“The objective was about information, transportation and transformation. There were about 20 participants who came and got to understand the rules and regulation of the game. The session was put in place to give both interpreters and coaches adequate information to relate to when necessary.
“Both interpreters and coaches will be certified at the end of the second training session this Saturday at the same venue. The coaches were given additional information to take back to their respective company to help to create a free flow of competition this season as we are anticipating a bigger and better tournament this time,” Davis told the Jamaica Observer.
The companies that attended the training programme were Registrar General’S Department, Stewarts Automotive Group, Sagicor Life Jamaica, Campari, Seprod, Urban Development Corporation and Jamaica Observer.
