Waterhouse, Humble Lion in dull RSPL draw
Glendon “Admiral” Bailey and Donovan Duckie, respective coaches of Waterhouse FC and Humble Lion FC, conceded that a point was better than losing the game following the teams’ poor display in a 0-0 result in Sunday’s Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) match at Drewsland Stadium.
The point helped in some small measure as Humble Lion moved into second place on the standings with 46 points, while Waterhouse held firm in the eighth position with 28 points.
Harbour View FC (27 points) were suffering successive 2-3 defeats at home in five days after going down to Arnett Gardens in another RSPL game.
“I thought we played well. My only disappointment was they were not clinical in the final third today (Sunday). Apart from that, I thought we were disciplined. We kept our shape. We ran at them. They ran at us. So, maybe, in the end, it was a fair result for both teams. No doubt we wanted to achieve maximum points from the game. We did not get the desired result but at this juncture all points are valuable”, Bailey told reporters in his after-match assessment
Duckie declared: “I have mixed feelings with the final result. We are creating chances and are giving up very few. What is good though we consolidated. You lost one so your confidence will be a little shaky so it is always important to get a result in the next game. Having said that though, I am very disappointed.
“At Arnett Gardens it was an easy game to win. Today was not that easy but we created four good chances and failed to reinforce the efforts by scoring even one. Nonetheless, a point is not always a bad result away from home.”
