Waterhouse bounce Arnett Gardens from Jackie Bell KO
Waterhouse FC defeated defending champions Arnett Gardens FC 4-2 on penalties to move into the quarter-final stage of the JN VISA/KSAFA Jackie Bell Knockout competition at Drewsland on Thursday night.
The two teams, who share 12 titles among themselves, earlier played to an exciting 120-minute 1-1 draw with first-half goals in the 10th minute from Rodave Murray for Waterhouse and Kemal Malcolm replying in the 19th minute for Arnett Gardens.
However, full and extra time failed to break the deadlock and penalty kicks were introduced by referee Karl Tyrell. Arnett Gardens promptly missed their first three penalties through Fabian Reid, Jason Moore and Marcelino Blackburn. Waterhouse, meanwhile, converted two of their first three kicks with skipper Damarley Samuels opening the scoring. Mark Miller then missed his penalty before Kemar Beckford, Stephorn Brown and Shaquille Dyer sent Waterhouse in the quarter-final with their kicks to join the other four Premier League and three Super League teams that have already booked places, including Maverley/Hughenden FC, Tivoli Gardens FC, Harbour View FC, UWI FC, with Cavalier SC, Central Kingston FC and Barbican FC representing KSAFA.
