Byles ‘sails on’ from the head of Sagicor after 13 years
Sagicor Jamaica last week bid farewell to their beloved President and CEO Richard Byles at a special function dubbed Sail On, held on the lawns of the Hope Zoo in Kingston.
Byles, who captained the Sagicor ship for over 13 years, will transition from his position to take up the chairmanship of the Jamaica Group.
Members of the Sagicor team, from all across the company’s various divisions, lauded Byles for his unparalleled success and unmatched leadership style. Among the many heartfelt testimonies shared of his tenure was one from outgoing chairman of the group, R Danny Williams, who spoke highly of Byles, his rich business acumen, and the many successes he achieved as the head of The Sagicor Group Jamaica.
Team members also dedicated stellar performances in honour of the stalwart.
The event was emceed by the energetic Jenny Jenny, with additional performances by comedic duo Ity and Fancy Cat, Ashe, Romaine Virgo and Marcia Griffiths.
Byles gave an emotional response, thanking the Sagicor family for their outpouring of well wishes and support over the many years. He also used the platform to symbolically pass the “captain’s hat” to incoming President and CEO Christopher Zacca, welcoming him aboard the Sagicor ship.
Throughout Byles’ leadership the company saw numerous acquisitions, including the RBC Royal Bank Jamaica and Blue Cross, as well as recording years of consecutive growth for the business.
Both men will assume their new roles today.
