Christina Roshay hits out against abuse
GOSPEL singer Christina Roshay wants to reach a secular audience with her latest single Stop It. The track is produced by Jermaine Edwards.
“The song speaks out against violence against vulnerable women and children. A lot of societal issues are touched in the song. I also speak about Christians who are two-faced who want God to forgive them, but not willing to forgive others,” the 23-year-old told the Jamaica Observer.
Stop It was released on March 18 and is on the Dominion compilation album — a project which features songs from all members of the Island Worship Team, including Jermaine Edwards, Rondell Positive, iWorshipp, Wray Soul, Verlando Small, and Kevin Health.
“I don’t want to just reach out to people who are saved; I want to reach out to all of Jamaica and the world so that more people will be changed by the words,” said Roshay.
The video is set for a May 13 release and is being produced by Bloozick Productions.
A graduate of Immaculate Conception High School, Roshay got the opportunity to pursue her passion in 2014.
“I contacted prominent producer Rolando Blake. I am a Christian, so I want to sing about my beliefs in the music. I had no recording experience, but I had written songs. I sent him some drafts and he asked me to do a demo from there,” she said.
Her other singles include Wrap Up and Heart Clean produced by Blake; Why You Worry (J’ai Mixx) and Start A Revolution (Clayton Salmon).
