We welcome you, Commissioner Quallo
Dear Editor,
Congratulations to George Quallo on being appointed our new commissioner of police.I am happy for the change, but more importantly I think that the right choice was made by the Police Service Commission. Quallo has long been known as a man of integrity and humility. He is a hard worker and has been above reproach over his many years of service.I believe this change will breathe new life and encouragement into the police force. I know many police officers who have personally said that they are elated to have him at the helm.Crime is a grave issue and we need all hands on board now more than ever. Quallo seems to be all for community engagement, which I think is critical for us to get the crime level down. It’s time people start speaking out against all criminal-related activities in and around their communities. We need to stop looking to a single politician or law enforcer for all the solutions for our nation’s crime problem. As part of solving this crime problem, we all need to look close to ourselves and see what we can do better, because the small things we let pass explode somewhere down the way. Some have been saying that he looks like a pushover, but I say to all the naysayers, Quallo is a quiet giant. Please stop jumping to conclusions on Commissioner Quallo, give him a chance to prove himself and help him make a difference to Jamaica. To Commissioner Quallo I say, it’s a hard road to travel and a mighty long way to go, but I am willing to work with you. And I am hoping every good-thinking Jamaican will join the fight.
