Rush for semi-final spots in TFA Major League
FALMOUTH, Trelawny
Three teams are chasing two spots in the semi-finals of the Trelawny Football Association Monymusk Plantation Rum Major League as the regular season ends on Saturday with five games scheduled.Mid-season champions Harmony FC on 36 points and knockout champions Coopers Pen FC on 35 points have already secured their places in the top four, while Duanvale FC, Salt Marsh United and Baca Star United are chasing the other two spots.Duanvale, in third place on 32 points, need only a draw against Rio Bueno FC at Sea Road to get in, while Salt Marsh United on 30 points and losing mid-season finalists Baca Star United on 29 must win their games to have any hope.Salt Marsh are away to Spicy Hill at Georgia playfield, while Baca Star United will visit relegation-threatened Invaders SC at Unity. All games start at 3:30pm.Having just escaped from the relegation zone, Rio Bueno FC saved their place in the league for next season and will have little to play for, while Duanvale FC, on an eight-game unbeaten run, should be able to get at least the point they need to progress.Invaders SC are playing for a place in the league next season and could give Bacca Star United a tough fight. This scenario suits Salt Marsh United who face a Spicy Hill team with nothing to play for except pride. At the foot of the table, Bunker’s Hill are already eliminated, and both Invaders SC and Daniel Town will be hoping to avoid joining them, but will find the going tough as one team could survive based on goal difference if both should lose.
