Appeal lodged
The Complete Racing Guide is confirming that the connections of Henry the Second, first past the post in last Saturday’s Lotto Classic run for the Governor’s Cup, have officially lodged an appeal challenging the ruling to disqualify their horse from first place.“Yes, an appeal was lodged during the time specified, with the appeal fee duly paid, against the decision of the stewards of the Jamaica Racing Commission (JRC) to disqualify
Henry The Second from first place and thereafter placing the horse second behind
Market Force in Saturday’s Lotto Classic,” an official from the Commission told The
Complete Racing Guide.
Henry The Second is owned by Curragh Jamaica Agency and is trained by Ian Parsard.Ridden by visiting former champion jockey, Panamanian Dick Cardenas,
Henry The Second rose to the occasion to beat
Market Force, trained by Richard Azan, by a length and a quarter. 2000 Guineas winner,
Fearless Samurai took third slot.Immediately after the end of the 10-furlong event the stewards posted the inquiry sign, which was followed by a jockey’s objection lodged by Shane Ellis, the rider of
Market Force. After their deliberations the stewards then announced that
Henry The Second had been disqualified and placed second, with
Market Force awarded the race.
Fearless Samurai remained in third position. The JRC official also indicated that the appeal lodged by the connections of
Henry The Second could be heard by the JRC commissioners as early as Tuesday or Thursday of next week.
