Jamaica stands with United Kingdom, says Holness
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Prime Minister Andrew Holness last night assured British High Commissioner to Jamaica David Fitton that Jamaica stood with the United Kingdom, after terror attacks rocked the English capital.
Holness last night wrote on his official Twitter account: “Jamaica stands with the people of the U.K. in this time of tribulation. We pray for peace and comfort for the victims. @HCDavidFitton”, tagging Fitton in the post.
The High Commissioner thanked Holness for the support.
Twelve suspects were arrested in London after knife-wielding men mowed down and stabbed revellers in London, killing seven, on Saturday night.
The rampage at the popular nightlife hub around London Bridge, by three men arriving in a van and wearing fake suicide vests, was the third deadly terror attack in Britain in three months and came only days before snap elections.
The Opposition People’s National Party, through its spokesman on foreign affairs, Dr Morais Guy earlier today said it was saddened by the news of yet another terror attack in London.
