PCJ back on board as title sponsor of Jamaica Alternative Energy Expo

KINGSTON, Jamaica —The Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica (PCJ) said it is back on board for the fourth year as title sponsors of the Jamaica Alternative Energy Exposition, which is scheduled for June 16 and 17 at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in Kingston.

The event, free to the public , will provide a forum where householders and business operators can see the latest products, services and technologies that can help them to manage their energy bills.Visitors will be able to interact with renewable energy and energy efficiency product and service suppliers as well as representatives from financial institutions that provide loans for alternative energy related purchases and investments. The PCJ in a release said it will provide clarity and make recommendations about energy solutions for homes or business operations. The company’s representatives will also be available to give advice, tips and easy to understand information about renewable energy and energy efficiency. The PCJ’s booth will also feature a display of the biofuels developed by its researchers and information on its numerous renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. In addition, consumers considering purchasing a solar photovoltaic (PV) system are also being encouraged to bring their current JPS bills to the PCJ booth where company representatives will use the PCJ’s Solar PV calculator, to give an estimate of the size of the system that will be needed for a residence or business location.“As there continues to be a growing concern about the cost of energy, the PCJ believes that an event such as the Jamaica Alternative Energy Expo is a good avenue for reaching people who would like to take charge of their energy bills by exploring ways of reducing consumption or through the technologies available,” said the PCJ’s Group General Manager, Winston Watson.“We want to share our understanding of the options available to consumers as they consider ways of cutting the cost of energy used to power their homes and businesses and so our experts will assist consumers to assess their energy usage and then recommend the best option to meet their particular needs and budget,” added Watson. The 2017 Jamaica Alternative Energy Expo will bring together exhibitors from commercial, regulatory, academic and government entities involved in the local and overseas energy industries. The two-day event will also feature workshops and presentation sessions aimed at consumers and industry professionals as well as the general public.
