KINGSTON, Jamaica (JIS) – The government is continuing work to expand the business process outsourcing (BPO) sector through investment of US$4,721,988.88 on further infrastructure buildout.

Education, Youth and Information Minister, Senator Ruel Reid, said this includes a cabinet-approved contract in the sum of US$3,792,630.13, which has been awarded to China Harbour Engineering Company Limited (CHEC) to undertake foundation work for three BPO buildings at the Portmore Informatics Park in St Catherine.He informed that the project sum was reduced from US$4,930,986.79.The minister was speaking at Wednesday’s post-cabinet media briefing at Jamaica House. He advised that cabinet also approved the award of a contract in the sum of US$929,358.75 to ZDA Construction Limited to build an entry lobby for the 63,000-square-foot BPO building at the Montego Bay Free Zone.Meanwhile, Reid advised that a contract, valued at US$533,995, has been awarded to CSDC Systems Incorporated to effect automation of the government’s electrical inspection processes, utilising the Application Management and Data Automation (AMANDA) software.Reid also told journalists that cabinet approved a US$1,514,200 contract to FAST Enterprises LLC for the provision of maintenance support for Tax Administration of Jamaica’s Revenue Administration Information System, for one year.
