UPDATE: 22-y-o truck driver dies in North/South Highway crash
ST ANN, Jamaica — A young man from Cedar Grove Estate in St Catherine died as a result of injuries he received in an early morning crash on the North-South Highway.
Jubelanie Dennis, 22, was reportedly driving a Volvo truck along the highway about 4:45 am when, on reaching the exit in Mammee Bay, St Ann, the vehicle seemingly developed mechanical difficulties, hit an embankment and overturned.
The police and the fire department responded and Dennis was removed from the truck.
He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The incident caused heavy crude oil spillage along the roadway, however, the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA), in subsequent reports, said the spill has been contained.
