Michael Frew, captain of the 2017 St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) cricket team, took the top individual award at a recent ceremony in Kingston to mark the close of the schoolboy cricket season.

Frew, former Jamaica Under-19 captain and a member of the triumphant West Indies team at last year’s ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, won the Carlton Alexander Award for sportsmanship, leadership and discipline, as well as the Douglas Orane Shield for academic excellence and outstanding performance in Grace Cricket competition.

Principal of STETHS Keith Wellington hailed Frew, who is set to enter the University of the West Indies (UWI) in September, as an exemplary individual.

“He is very disciplined, respectful, hard-working, and someone who is able to manage his time very well… Other students look up to him,” said Wellington.
