Catherine Hall All-Stars into Elite League final
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Defending champions Catherine Hall All-Stars advanced to the final of the Western Basketball Association iCool/iDrade Elite Basketball League after a 2-0 win over Holland Saints in the best-of-three semi-finals after winning Game Two 78-65 at the Montego Bay Cricket Club courts on Sunday.
Catherine Hall had won Wednesday’s first game 75-68 and will now await the winner of the other semi-final between Granville Jaguars and Cricket Club Knights, which Granville lead 1-0 after winning the first game in that series 77-70.
After leading his team with 20 points in the first game, Craig Dorman returned to score 24 on Sunday as Catherine Hall outscored Holland 48-35 over the second half after a close first half.
Catherine Hall led by one point (18-17) after the first quarter, but Holland won the second quarter 13-12 to tie up the half-time scores at 30-30.
The champions responded in the third quarter by outscoring the Trelawny team 24-16 to take an eight-point (54-46) lead going into the fourth quarter where they extended the lead.
Kurt Dorman also scored 17 points and had 14 rebounds for Catherine Hall, while Dwayne Johns also scored 17 points.
Michael Johnson tried to keep Holland in the game, scoring 23 points and getting 11 rebounds, while David Jarrett scored 10 points.
