Vytamin gets Complicated boost
After years of trying, up-and-coming reggae singer Vytamin has released his debut single called Complicated. Produced by Penny Wilson, the song he said tackles relationship issues.
“It’s about being with a female who isn’t sure where she wants to take the relationship. This minute she is in and the next she is out. A lot of relationships are like that and it’s not healthy for the partner who wants something serious,” he said.
Complicated was recorded in 2015, but was officially released earlier this year.
“It had gotten a good little run on social media, but it was never released until March. My musical journey has been a struggle and quite a bit of a challenge, but I still give thanks for where it is at. I really hope that this song will do well on the local scene and even stretch to other parts of the world,” he said.
Vytamin, given name Oneil Allen, hails from the community of Waterloo in St Catherine. After completing his studies at Cresent All-Age School in the parish, he took to the streets to earn a living for himself.
“I didn’t get a chance to go to high school, so I began doing a lot of odd jobs to survive. I have always loved music as it gives me a peace of mind and could help to soothe my soul whenever I was going through a difficult period,” he said.
In 2014, the singer said he got a job in Trinidad to work on a construction site.
“I saved what I could and returned to Jamaica a year later to invest in a music career,” he said.
Although he has penned several singles, Vytamin said he and his Mainstone Entertainment team is in no rush for their release.
“The aim is to just push Complicated until it reaches it’s full potiential,” he said.
