Minister, health authority hail late gynaecologist
HEALTH Minister Dr Christopher Tufton has expressed condolences, on behalf of the team at the ministry, to the family and friends of Dr Vary Jones Leslie, who was killed in a motor vehicle accident in the Cayman Islands on Monday.
Dr Jones Leslie, a retired medical consultant who worked with the Spanish Town hospital for over 23 years, was hit by a taxi moments after leaving the arrival terminal at the international airport in the Cayman Islands, where she had gone to take up a job offer.
“This is a great loss to the medical fraternity and community which would have benefited from her years of experience,” said Dr Tufton. “To the family, friends and colleagues of Dr Vary Jones Leslie, I wish to assure you that my prayers are with you at this very difficult time.”
The South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA) said it, too, “is deeply saddened by the death of Dr Vary Jones Leslie, beloved obstetrician and gynaecologist”.
“… Her tremendous sense of duty to public service and her outstanding contribution to health care is one for many generations to follow. We will cherish the memories of her life and be comforted by the legacy she has left behind,” said a SERHA release.
