PM MEETS JAPANESE VOLUNTEERS
Prime Minister Andrew Holness greets volunteers of the Japan International Cooperation Agency at Jamaica House for the 30th anniversary for volunteering in Jamaica. The Government of Japan’s Overseas Cooperation of Volunteers (JOCV) Programme was established in 1965, before the oversight Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) was formed in 1974. The Our Volunteer programme is aimed at providing technical assistance in developing countries. Here in Jamaica they work in close collaboration with their Jamaican counterparts and, likewise through their efforts, the Japan-Jamaica partnership continues to be strengthened at the grass roots level.
