BGLC TROPHY FACTS AND FIGURES
The Betting Gaming and Lotteries Trophy race started in 2003 as a seven-furlong (1,400m) event. The distance of this race was then changed in 2012 to five and a half furlongs (1,100m).
Trainer Wayne DaCosta won the first three BGLC Trophy races — first with Forgotten Hero and then twice with Formally Gold. DaCosta scored a fourth win in 2007 with Chadman.
Trainer Dwight Chen is the only other trainer to win the BGLC Trophy race more than once; first with Musical Maestro in 2008 and then in 2009 with Honey of a Lady.
Dane Nelson is the only jockey to win BGLC Trophy race three times. Nelson’s winners were Formally Gold in 2005, Chadman in 2007, and Musical Maestro in 2008.
