Disc jock Freddy Kruger has released his latest music project, the Questions rhythm. The project features the songs Same Way by Sanchez; Can’t Undo by Zamunda; Love by PZed; Took Your Life Away by Rasta Life; and Far I Laws by Contractor.

Kruger’s Drop Di Bass label had previously issued Pretty Fingers by Lady Saw, which was a big seller in Japan and parts of Europe in 2014. His other production credits include Huff and Puff by Spragga Benz. He has produced songs for Capleton, Charly Black and Little Hero.

Born Andre Lee, the St Mary native began his career in the late 1990s. He took the name Freddy Kruger from a sound system that he worked on.

“The first sound I worked on was called Freddy Kruger. After a while it went out of business, but the name stuck with me as people started calling me Freddy Kruger,” he told Splash.

Asked what he brings to the table as a producer, he said: “I have helped to bring talents from St Mary and St Ann to the fore. I’ve been very instrumental in the careers of artistes like Charly Black and Zamunda. I also love to work with upcoming artistes.”

Kruger believes that he has a hit on his hands with the Questions rhythm project.

“It’s an excellent project and the rhythm has an authentic reggae vibe. I’ve been getting positive feedback about it from DJs all over the world. I’m sure it’s going to do well both locally and abroad,” he said. “A lot of people think that reggae music is dead, but that is far from the truth. I’ve travelled all over the world, both as a selector and an engineer, and everywhere I go reggae music is still in high demand. That’s why I keep producing good reggae music. I wish more of our local producers would do the same.”
