Gruesome killing of Savoy man shocks family, community
MANDEVILLE, Manchester — The family of 45-year-old Anthony Gayle, who was chopped to death in Savoy, near Christiana in Manchester yesterday, said that they are alarmed at the killing.
His brother, Shawn Plummer, who resides in Trelawny, told the Jamaica Observer that he had never heard of his sibling having an altercation with anyone in his district.
“Everybody in shock,” he said.
The Manchester police said when they went to the crime scene at Savoy Crescent Gayle’s body was seen “with what appears to be a machete wound to the left side of the neck, partially severing the head from the body”.
Plummer said that his brother, who is also known as “Carlie”, left behind a child who is now about six months old.
While the police and relatives said they were unsure of the motive for the incident, some residents claimed that it possibly resulted from a dispute in which Gayle was involved. They, however, were unable to say what the dispute was about.
