#London2017: Jamaican team not affected by stomach bug
LONDON, England — The Jamaican team has not been affected by a suspected outbreak of the norovirus in London that has seen at least number of athletes and officials affected at the 16th IAAF World Championships.
Public Health England said 30 athletes and support staff have been affected, with two cases confirmed as the bug.
Jamaica’s team manager, Ian Forbes, today told OBSERVER ONLINE that all is well at their Grange Tower Bridge Hotel.
“We are very concerned as well because we would not want it to affect out athletes. Based on my information we have not been affected and this was based up to late last night,” said Forbes.
“I am to get an update from the medical team as of today to see if there is any change. But my information up to last night we have not been affected,” he reiterated.
Jamaica’s double Olympic champion, Elaine Thompson, vomited a few times before the women’s 100m final on Sunday but she downplayed her poor performance, saying it had nothing to do with her stomach issue.
Forbes said that was not confirmed to him either although he would double check with his medical team.
