Time to close loophole in firearms licensing
Dear Editor,
I observe with interest the smiling face of Patrick Powell’s attorney having got her client sentenced to the probably lesser charge of not presenting to the Firearm Licensing Authority his licensed gun upon request.
Going forward, would it not be seen as easier to just give the licensed firearm holder a fixed number of days to comply with the request, with no penalty, and then immediately thereafter incarcerate said firearm holder until he or his agent presents the firearm to the authority with the bore of the gun barrel undamaged; with perhaps an additional three years to the penalty if the bore is rendered unusable for ballistics tests?
Wouldn’t it be interesting if this were the law?
