HOSTS Jamaica continue to dominate the 2017 Caribbean Region Table Tennis Federation (CRTTF) Championships by capturing two more gold medals in the individual events at the National Arena yesterday.

The Jamaicans captured gold medals in the girls’ Under-13 and Under-11, along with silver and bronze medals for an overall medal tally of 10.

In the Under-11 girls’ doubles final, the Jamaican pair of Dana Prendergast and Samoy Lamont beat Shary Munoz and Ariana Estrella 9-11, 12-10, 2-11, 11-4, 11-6 for the title.

The Jamaican pair of Solesha Young and Kelsey Davidson defeated their compatriots Jannel Blake and Danielle Irving in straight sets 11-6, 11-7, 11-6 to capture the Under-13 girls’ doubles final.

Jamaica finished third in the Under-13 and Under-11 mixed doubles.

The overall champions will be decided at the completion of the individual events on Saturday. The events are singles, doubles, and mixed doubles.

On Tuesday night, Jamaica’s ‘B’ team lost 1-3 to Trinidad and Tobago in boys’ Under-11 team competition to capture the silver medal, while the Dominican Republic ended winners of the round-robin competition after beating their four opponents to finish on eight points. Jamaica ‘B’ ended second with seven points.

The Dominican Republic also captured the boys’ Under-13 team event title with a 3-1 triumph over Trinidad and Tobago in the final to give them their second gold medal.

There will be no competition today, to make way for a Caribbean Table Tennis Federation conference this morning at the University of Technology, Jamaica Lecture Theatre, beginning at 9:00.

The competition continues tomorrow morning with the playing of the singles in all categories.
