Animated Maroon story debuts tomorrow
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A new Jamaican animation to promote Jamaican history and culture is scheduled to be launched tomorrow.
The animation, “Abeeku and the Maroons” created by Night Vision Media will be unveiled tomorrow at the University of the West Indies, CARIMAC, Annex 2 in Kingston at 2:00 pm.
In a media release today, the creators said that the event will showcase the first of the 13-episode, digital series as well as the launch of a related game designed for further engagement with the content.
Night Vision Media stated that Abeeku and the Maroons chronicles the story of a reluctant leader who escapes the slave plantation then finds himself among the Maroons — a group of fearless freedom fighters.
But his joy is short-lived when he realises his pregnant sister, Abina, failed to make a getaway from the plantation.
Lost and alone, Abina must find a way to quickly reunite with her brother.
