Bail extended for Haile Clacken murder accused
MANDEVILLE, Manchester — The bail of 38-year-old Shawn Cole, who is charged for murder in relation to the death of mentally ill St Elizabeth man Haile Clacken, was extended when he apepared before the Balaclava Court yesterday.
He is scheduled to return to court on Monday, September 11.
Cole, who was conducting duties on behalf of security company Guardsman, allegedly shot and killed 36-year-old Clacken after he climbed on to an armoured truck, which Cole was driving, in the Junction area on June 23 this year.
He was granted bail in the sum of $1 million when he made his first appearance in court last month.
The case, which was reportedly taken to the Balaclava Court in rural St Elizabeth to avoid tensions surrounding the incident, will be heard at the St Elizabeth Parish Court in Santa Cruz at the next court appearance.
Clacken, family members say, was diagnosed with bipolar disorder for more than a decade.
