Harvey strengthens, now category 4 hurricane
CORPUS CHRISTI, United States (AFP)— Hurricane Harvey on Friday further intensified into a dangerous category four storm, just hours before it was due to slam into the Texas coast, US meteorologists said.
Harvey was now packing sustained winds of 130 miles (215 kilometres) an hour, which were “spreading onto the middle Texas coast,” the National Hurricane Center said.
On the forecast track, Hurricane Harvey will make landfall on the middle of Texas coastline tonight or early Saturday. Harvey is then likely to meander near, or just inland, the middle Texas coast through the weekend.
