Chace The Great from in front
Chace The Great , as expected, went to the front and easily outsprinted rivals to win the 10th running of the $1.5-million Seek Exercise Book Trophy feature in fine style at Caymanas Park yesterday.
Ridden by Wesley “Callaloo” Henry, Chace The Great broke quickest and assumed the early lead over Action Man (Jemar Jackson), Choo Choo Blue (Omar Walker) and Gary Glitter (Oneil Scott) in churning 23.0 for the first quarter (200m) and 45.4 seconds for the half-mile (800m).
Turning for home unchallenged, Henry set about pushing the Dwight Chen-trained Chace The Great as the pressure in deep stretch mounted. Chace The Great responded well and got home to win by a length and a quarter ahead of the late-surging Choo Choo Blue.
Phineas (Dane Dawkins) also came on the scene later for third money, with Another Bullet (Shane Ellis) completing the frame. The final time for the six-and-a-half furlongs (1,300m) Grade Two event was clocked in 1:18.4.
The $900,000 Rhoel Rhoden Memorial Trophy, a maiden special weight event for native two-year-olds over five-and-a-half furlongs (1100m) was won by My Sister, trained by Gary Subratie and ridden by Dane Dawkins.
Subratie also saddled Golden Glory (Aaron Chatrie) in the 10th race to complete a double on the day, while Dawkins won aboard Moneyneversleep in the second for his double. Chatrie had earlier ridden Sweet Dimension to victory in the seventh race for his double.
Chace The Great (Wesley Henry) steadfastly holding the challenge of Choo Choo Blue to win the feature race at the Park yesterday.
