Murder of 6-y-o in May Pen ‘appalling’ — Henry
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Central Clarendon Member of Parliament (MP), Mike Henry has described the Friday morning gun attack on a family in Farm district in May Pen as appalling.
The attack resulted in the death of six-year-old Timothy Bassaragh and injury to his mother.
Henry, in a release this morning, said the “cold-blooded act” signalled a point where citizens need to begin to take a defiant stance against “the crime monster”.
Henry said Bassaragh’s murder “is a clear signal that unless the society in general decides to frontally tackle the crime monster on a collective basis, there will continue to be such dastardly disturbing acts of criminality”.
Henry, who is reportedly overseas, added that the time has come for Jamaicans to “begin uniting against the ongoing national criminal assault, to push back the lawless and make our communities safe again”.
The MP called for a thorough investigation of the incident. He also expressed condolence to the deceased child’s family, including his injured mother.
