For the children
After celebrating their 10th anniversary of sponsoring the Seek Exercise Book Back-to-School race day, Bruce Baylis, chief executive officer (CEO) of Book Empire Limited, manufacturers of Seek products, said that this year’s renewal has surpassed even his own expectations, while claiming it was the best ever.
“We have always been trying to set the bar very high over the years and we have also been able to maintain a particularly high standard of our promotions, and I think that right now we are right there on top of it.
“I think that this year’s race day was just as good, if not better than previous years, and as of now we are going back to the drawing board to see if we can improve on next year. We have enjoyed today to the fullest,” Baylis told the Supreme Racing Guide.
The feature event on the day was the 10th running of the Seek Exercise Book Trophy, an Open Allowance event going over six-and-a-half furlongs (1,300m) for a purse of $1.5 million, which was won in fine style by Chace The Great, trained by Dwight Chen and ridden by Wesley Henry.
The remaining races on the day carried the names of products manufactured by Book Empire Limited. A total of 2,000 Seek exercise books were donated to patrons. Also on the day, the first 100 children who came to the Park received back-to-school gift bags.
“Today has been a fabulous day for us – for me and my family – and I hope too for the punters and their families as well. This Seek Exercise Book Back-to-School race day is for the children. A lot of children turned up today and they seemed to be very happy, and as long as they are happy, Seek is happy and I am happy.
“The race [the Seek Exercise Book Trophy] itself was the icing on the cake, but the cake and its ingredients are what we have here today – the children – and they are happy,” said an elated Baylis.
