UCASE concerned over stoning of JUTC buses
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Union of Clerical Administrative and Supervisory Employees (UCASE) is condemning the recent spate of attacks on Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) buses.
In statements posted on its verified Twitter account earlier this month, the State-run bus company said its buses were stoned in separate incidents in Bull Bay, St Andrew and Portmore, St Catherine.
UCASE this afternoon urged Jamaicans, who it said are the “real owners” of the buses, to assist in every possible way to bring the perpetrators to justice, and help prevent any further attacks.
It said the JUTC has the full support in doing what is necessary to prevent and protect the travelling public.
The bus company on August 14 tweeted that two of its buses were stoned at 7 miles in Bull Bay, St Andrew.
It explained that two side glasses on both units were damaged, adding: “This is not good”.
In another tweet on August 16, JUTC again expressed concern after it said three of its buses were attacked in Portmore, St Catherine.
“We’re very concerned about these stone throwing incidents. What’s motivating them &who benefits? 3 more buses damaged in Portmore last night”.
JUTC said both instances were reported to the police.
