It’s all systems go for the sixth staging of the annual Tryall Club CUMI Come Run scheduled for this Saturday at the historic 18-hole Tryall Golf Club in Hanover.

This year, the Committee for the Upliftment of the Mentally Ill (CUMI) is hoping to raise in excess of the $5million garnered last year, to continue the rehabilitation efforts of the mentally ill in St James and environs.

“The CUMI 5K and 10K races offer something to all participants at any level of running and walking, including children. The race course offers varying inclines of average grade two to four percentage points, with a rapid downhill section after miles two and five,” said race director Alfred ‘Frano’ Francis, head honcho of Running Events.

The course will have four water stops to ensure that every runner is hydrated, thanks to the official hydration sponsors Wisynco.

“It is going to be a wonderful exhilarating experience especially if you’re a first time entrant of the race. Our Marshalls are ready and excited about this annual event,” Francis added.

Over 700 people participated last year, including a large number of corporate teams.

The CUMI Come Run is one of six road races under the Ministry of Health’s Jamaica Moves campaign that encourages Jamaicans to practice a healthier lifestyle to combat non-communicable diseases.

The starting pistol goes off promptly at 7:00 am on Saturday.
