Sasco, Jahmiel, Jermaine for PAN Regional 2 event
AGENT Sasco aka Assassin, gospel singer Jermaine Edwards, and singjay Jahmiel will comprise the diverse entertainment offering at PAN 2017 Regional 2, scheduled to be held at Folly Oval in Portland on Saturday, September 30.
The event starts at 12 noon and runs until 8:00 pm. Admission is free.
PAN 2017 — hosted by CB Foods — is a culinary extravaganza where pan chefs compete in a live, 60-minute cook-off. A winner and runner-up (first and second place) are chosen from each parish to advance to the grand finals on October 29 in Half-Way-Tree, to vie for the coveted title of Grand Champion.
Parish winners will each receive $40,000 cash and gifts from sponsors, while the runners-up will receive $20,000 cash, as well as other prizes.
Competitors representing the parishes of Kingston and St Andrew, Portland, St Thomas, St Mary, St Ann, Trelawny, and St Catherine will square off for pan chicken supremacy at PAN 2017, Regional 2.
“It’s a good feeling to perform at this event; not only is it one of the biggest food festivals, but knowing CB’s commitment to helping an industry that is so vital to Jamaican culture is a great look,” said Jahmiel.
Known for hits including True Colours, Gain the World and Strongest Soldier, Jahmiel is expected to light up the stage at PAN. The artiste is currently promoting the song U Me Luv, which was produced by Dunwell Productions.
Also happy to be a part of the line-up is Agent Sasco.
“This event has become a staple on the entertainment calendar and I’ve been blessed to perform on a few before. I am happy to be on the line-up for Portland,” said Agent Sasco. “The promoters of this event are giving pan chicken men and women across Jamaica the opportunity to showcase their talents and to become entrepreneurs. I certainly applaud that and I think that’s something that we need more of.”
With a long string of hits culled from his more than decade-long career, Agent Sasco will no doubt thrill patrons with songs including Hand Inna Di Air, Girls Gone Wild, and Don’t Make We Hold You.
Jermaine Edwards, who rocked the gospel music circuit last year with Beautiful Day, is ready to minister to fans.
“This event is a nice platform to reach the audience with the message, and I feel good to be a part of the entertainment line-up,” said Edwards. “I like the concept of the event, I mean they are giving other persons the opportunity to shine and I think that CB gives these pan chicken operators an entrepreneurial lift.”
Currently promoting the single I am Blessed, which was produced by Island Worship Productions, Edwards is set to release a new album next year.
Additional entertainment will be guided by comedian and broadcaster Dufton “Duffy” Taylor, with giveaways and various competitions on stage throughout the day.
Monster Milk, another PAN partner, has expanded its exciting Kiddies Village, which is a favourite for the young at heart.
“This is the second time PAN will be in Portland and it’s somewhat symbolic, considering Portland is the home of jerk. But we have lots in store for our patrons. They can expect amazing food and entertainment for the entire family,” said Kemoi Burke, events and promotions coordinator at CB Foods.
