2017 game bird shooting season over, NEPA reminds
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) is reminding all hunters and members of the public that the 2017 game bird shooting season came to a close at 9:00 am today.
A release from NEPA reiterated that the shooting of game birds during the closed season is strictly prohibited under the law.
Any person caught shooting during the closed season will be prosecuted under the Wild Life Protection Act (WLPA) and, on conviction before a Parish Judge, may be fined up to $100,000 or face 12 months imprisonment.
NEPA encouraged citizens to report all incidents of illegal shooting to NEPA at (876)754-7540 ext. 2403, toll free: 1-888-991-5005, 119, or the nearest police station.
