Papa Albert beats the odds
IT is not often that a horse breaks the maiden tag and wins the first time of asking in the class above, but such was the case with the Patrick Lynch-trained Papa Albert (Nuclear Wayne – Princess Lorna) on Saturday last at Caymanas Park.
Papa Albert stepped boldly in front in the non-winners of two contest over seven furlongs (1,400m), with his rider Dick Cardenas digging deep to win the event by three lengths.
Papa Albert won ahead of Ruby Rose (Jemar Jackson), Big Al (Omar Walker) and Smashing One (Prince Holder). In the end, the winning time was recorded at 1:28.2.
The win gave the very consistent Lynch his 17th winner for the year from 145 starts.
With the win by Papa Albert, Lynch was able to maintain position number seven in the trainers’ championships.
