Man arrested for ganja to face court today
A man is scheduled to face the Corporate Area Criminal Court today after he was arrested and charged for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act Monday.
The accused, 44-year-old Paul Baldwin, who is of a Clarendon address, has been charged with possession of ganja, dealing in ganja, and taking steps preparatory to the export of ganja.
Reports from the police are that about 1:35 pm, Baldwin checked in a suitcase at the Norman Manley International Airport for a Caribbean Airlines flight destined for Antigua. During a search of his suitcase, the ganja, which weighed 5.4 pounds, was allegedly found concealed in a hammock and two pairs of shoes.
He was processed and taken into custody, the police said.
